DIY band shirtsDo you want a t-shirt of your favorite band but can’t seem to find any in the market? Or perhaps you have your own band and want to make some merchandise or memorabilia for your fans? No worries, there are a lot of DIY methods you can consider in creating your own band shirts.

DIY band shirts are perfect for those who want to show their love and support to their favorite artists, most especially if these are bands that are not mainstream just yet. Wear them at music festivals, band concerts, or just on a casual day out. Who knows, the band may even take notice of your DIY band shirts and send you all their love!

Here are a few fun ways you can DIY band shirts:

Free Hand Fabric Painting

Materials needed:

A plain shirt

A print out of your favorite band’s logo

Fabric paint

Pencil

Instructions:

Place the print out of your favorite band’s logo in between the layers of your shirt. Make sure that the print-out is the same size you want it to appear on the shirt. Using a pencil, outline the design on the shirt. Don’t worry if you make a mistake when outlining using a pencil since it will wash out anyway. When you’re satisfied with the outline, go over it slowly using fabric paint. Let it dry overnight then rinse.

Stencil

Materials needed:

A plain shirt

A print out of your favorite band’s logo

X-acto knife

Piece of cardboard

Fabric paint

Instructions:

Lay your print-out on a piece of cardboard. Using an x-acto knife, create a stencil out of your print out. When you’re satisfied with your stencil, lay it out on your shirt. Using fabric paint, paint over your stencil. Let it dry overnight then rinse.

Iron Transfer

Materials needed:

A plain shirt

Iron-on transfer sheets

Scissors

Flat iron

Instructions:

On your computer, reverse your favorite band’s logo using a photo editing software. You can easily do this by flipping the image horizontally. Print the reversed image on an iron-on transfer sheet. Cut your logo and lay it down on your shirt as desired. Get your flat iron and put it on the cotton setting. Carefully iron the logo to your shirt using circular motions on the edges and going over the entire sheet to lock in the image. Wait for the iron-on transfer paper to cool down before peeling it off.

What if you already have a band shirt but as most band tees go, they run a few sizes too big? Would you believe that this problem can easily be solved with just a pair of scissors? Snip snap—cut away and make those baggy band tees look cute and unique! Here are a few things you can try:

Fringe

Cut off the sleeves and neckline to create a tank top. Cut the bottom part of the shirt vertically making strips that would serve as the fringe. Feel free to add some beads for a more festive look.

Crop It

Cut off the sleeves, neckline, and the bottom of the shirt to your desired length. Stretch the fabric a bit so it curls up at the ends.
